What Does Following Jesus Look Like?

We learned more than we thought we would!

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, Warren and I had the privilege to take part in “Intro To Mission” via Zoom over the past 6 weeks. Wow, it has rocked our world. In this short time, we have already learned so much and grown significantly in our faith. The time we spent in this course cemented in our hearts that no matter how hard the preparation is, this is definitely what our family is meant to do in this season of our life.

I would love to share some of the things that we learned during this short 6-week training.

1. Have you heard of the 10/40 window?

Until our Intro To Missions course, we had never heard of the 10/40 window. This is a reference to the physical location where the most unreached people groups in the world reside in. Sadly, this is also where the least amount of missionaries go. It doesn’t really make sense, does it?

Almost 3 billion people fall into the headline of “unreached people groups” and of that 95 % live in the 10/40 window, which spans from Northern Africa to South East Asia.
That’s 2,850,000,000 people who have NEVER heard of Jesus!

2. Do you wait to listen to God?

In Hebrews 1:1-2 and Jeremiah 33:3 we are told that God is ready to have a conversational relationship with us. He yearns for intimacy with His children. We are often taught to pray, to ask for forgiveness, to ask for the things that we need, but do we wait for a response? This is something that Warren and I learned in our Intro To Missions and we have been practicing it daily. We must take the time to wait for Him to answer.

HUGE UPDATE!

1. We found out that the USA/Canadian border will allow us through for our air travel in September.
2. The YWAM Kona Campus is in opening-up stages and will be fully open, while remaining inside the health guidelines, in September.

We are feeling extremely blessed to be one of the families that will be attending the Family DTS this fall. There are usually about 50 families that attend the fall Family DTS, because of covid-19 there will only be about 10 families.
