Searching for sensory bin ideas can be overwhelming and make you think that you need fancy fillers and expensive tables. What I am here to tell all of you sensory bin beginners is that you can use simple bins with cheap fillers and your children will love them just the same! Most of the supplies we use for our sensory bins come from the dollar store, even our bins come from the dollar store. We use shallow bins that have lockable lids, they are easily stackable and don’t take up too much room which means that we are able to keep a couple on hand at all times.

My five-year-old daughter spends the most time with the sensory bins, she will sit there and play with them for hours and hours. She will play with them during her quiet time, at the kitchen table while I am cleaning up, or when she is watching shows on her iPad. Sometimes we even incorporate the things we are learning into our sensory bins, for example when we are studying Ancient Egypt we fill our sand bin with tiny little plastic Egyptian characters and Ancient Egyptian landmarks.
